Group Work - Plan for Production - Plots and Stock Situations
As a group we watched a few horror trailers with similar themes to our trailer that we want to create. It was Nassim's task to upload screen shots of each trailer showing plot and stock situation we would like to use. The trailers we looked at were; Carrie, Tormented, Unfriended and GoodNight Mommy.

Ideas for our Film Title
Silence to Kill
Group Planning - Planning For Production - Themes
Group Work - Planning for Production - Locations
Hayley's Blog
We also discussed the location we would need and if possible to film them there. We came to an agreement so we now have a selection of locations in which we could use. During the past year I have learnt that it is much easier and simpler to have locations that are local, to film, it allows us to have more time to film.
Group Work - Planning for Production - Icons
As a group we had a discussion about what props we want to use and what we need to provide. The icons chosen are to help us portray the genre of horror and to give hints of the killer's past. This blog post was Hayley's responsibility to upload.

Group Planning - Planning for Production - Inital ideas
These are notes are from class, of some initial ideas that we thought of. Killers and their backstories. We developed these ideas from our top three fears, as a group. We developed the killers personality and reasons for killing. An idea we came up with is the killer was abandoned in his childhood - parents not paying attention of him because they are too occupied with their lives.
To each of the fears we tried to give them stories/plots. As you can see, we did not come up with one for slow death because we found it quite difficult to come to an agreement on a narrative we all liked and also that made sense and was logical. Each idea we came up with was very complex and difficult to understand.
Group Planning - Film Synopsis
Our group realized that our original synopsis was too far from our story idea and we confused ourselves, so we decided to re-write it, and more detail and telling the narrative;
From a young age Cain was deprived from a normal lifestyle. He grew up in a obsessively religious household where the only attention he received was moral and religious teachings, other than that he was ignored by family an people at school. He was isolated therefore obsessed with getting attention. He started with the kids at school, a campaign, of killing people based on moral judgments. He wanted to get attention for these killings so he sent them anomalously on social media. People share the killing and the attention grew therefore he started to kill more people because he was finally getting the attention he craved all his life. A group of students started to investigate the murders. Are they sin free? They may be next.....

Mad Max - Trailer inspiration
I watched the Mad Max Fury Road Trailer to get inspiration for my groups trailer. What element could I use?
Elements that stood out to me were;
-Sound and Music - The trailer used different paced music to make the trailer flow, and give the audience an understanding of what type of film it is going to be. Also the fast paced music, made the audience feel an adreneline rush. The sound was amplifyed on screen, for example when
-Social Media Links - They had a website that audiences can go to and loads of social media links such as twitter, facebook ect. This allows them to have a bigger, wider range of audience.
-Lighting - The lighting was used effectively to reflect mood and give the idea of emotions that the characters are going through or feeling.
-Voice Over - The voice oveer was used cleverly as, in the beginning of the trailer, the villain was narrating and then it changed to the hero. They also told a short story, only using one liners.
-Montage - A montage was used to show stock situations.

Poster analysis - Skin
This horror poster is called Skin. The main image is a face with blacked out eyes and in a screaming facial expression, with its skin being pulled by hooks. The blacked out eyes help reinforce the meaning of the unknown. We are not able to read this characters expression fully, other than that the character is pain. There is liquid coming out of the eyes and we can assume from the genre,, horror, that its blood. The character is crying pain. The colour of the characters face is white, this can show the death of the character as the colour is drained form her face. The emotion of her face is in a screaming motion, showing and injecting fear into the audience.
Trailer analysis - Unfriended
The beginning of the trailer starts off really happy and supportive. People are graduating, smiling and then the music and the pace of the trailer change. It becomes more dark and more eerie. The trailer then shows some embarrassing, regretting decisions through a video. We learn that these embarrassing videos and photos are of a girl called Laura and that she has died. Her group of friends have a Skype call but an unknown person trys to get into the call and succeeds. This is a clever way to introduce the killer as we don't know their identity. There is no picture or name and we don't even get to see the person at all. This becomes scary because every teenager can relate to having social media. Also the fear of the location, they are all in their individual houses yet, the killer is effecting all of them at the same time, whist they are on their skype call.
